Starting The Door in the Wall

“Thou hast only to follow the wall far enough and there will be a door in it.”

Although 2 of my 3 kids are perfectly capable of reading on their own, and they do, I still enjoy reading aloud to my kids and the discussions that we have. They are part of a book club, so we’ve been reading aloud the books that they have to read for that, and they can use their free time to read the books that they just want to read. Their next book club book is The Door in the Wall by Marguerite de Angeli. We’ve read this before, but it has been about 5 years, and neither of my boys recall much about it. We read the first couple chapters today, and so far the boys aren’t too enthused. They did, however, enjoy talking about the Middle Ages. I had a hard time getting their minds off of William the Conqueror, Robin Hood & the Magna Carta. My oldest said that it was lacking in the action department! We shall see if it catches their attention.
