Day 2 of The Door in the Wall

The chapters aren’t numbered, but if I counted correctly, we finished the 4th chapter today. Let me get the ugly out of the way – the boys still aren’t thrilled with it. They are struggling with the language (they compare it to the King James Bible) and they get bored with the lack of action. They’re boys! Today they wanted to discuss the plague, and I thought of the great triggers this book has already had for them discussing the history of the time. We also talked about what a “Door in the Wall” was, and how that could be applied to any trial we face. So, while the boys aren’t necessarily enjoying it, I’ve enjoyed the discussions we’ve had while reading it. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.
