Review ~ Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Yea! I’ve completed the first book & review for the Finishing the Series Reading Challenge! I actually finished another book this morning, and I have another book I expect to finish up this evening towards the challenge, too. So, I think I’ve got a pretty good start! Here’s hoping I’ll be able to keep on track!

Onyx
Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there’s this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that’s possible. Against all common sense, I’m falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

My ****4.5 Star**** Review

I am so loving this series! It is so very close to a 5 star read for me. The sci-fi aspect keeps things twisting and turning. The chemistry between Daemon and Kat is palpable despite the fact that Kat constantly pushes him away. That just adds to the awesome tension between Daemon and her, though. There’s a little taste of a triangle in this book. Daemon and Kat both frustrate me at times, but not to the extent that I don’t still love them both! The plot really thickens in this book with questions concerning the DOD and Daemon’s brother Dawson among other things.

This is definitely a series that you have to start from the beginning so that you don’t miss anything. Onyx picks right up where Obsidian left off. It’s still the same great style and speed that you get from the start. If you liked the first book, there’s no way you’ll not like this one. If you haven’t read Obsidian, what are you waiting on?!? I highly recommend it to all YA paranormal/sci-fi romance fans!!!

Happy Reading,

Alison
