Ali here ~
I’m a little behind on writing my reviews. Hopefully I’ll start getting them knocked out. Of all the reviews I have to write, though, this is the one that I just really need to share with y’all!! This book just hasn’t let me go. RIVER hasn’t let me go!!
Title: River Wild
Author: Samantha Towle
Release Date: Jan 12, 2019
Blurb: From New York Times bestselling author Samantha Towle comes an unexpected love story between two unlikeliest of people…
A new town. A new identity. Pregnant and alone.
And far away from a past that can never find me.
Moody. Sullen. Jerk.
And my new neighbor.
I have no interest in befriending River. And he definitely doesn’t want to be befriended by me.
Then, he helps me rescue an abandoned dog. And, that day, I see something in his eyes that reflects back in my own. Sadness. Pain. Loneliness.
I know all of those things well.
An unwanted and unexpected friendship that somehow works. Then, without warning, it turns into something more.
River and I both have our secrets, and that’s okay. Because I understand him. And he understands me.
For the first time in my life, I have something I never thought I would have—happiness.
But happiness isn’t forever. Not for people like me.
Especially not when my past is waiting just around the corner, ready to come and take it all away.
My 5 Star Review
Where, oh where to start with this one??? Well, let me start at the beginning. This book TORE me to pieces. I mean seriously shredded my insides. I was literally on the verge of puking. It was rough to put it mildly. And this was only pg 2. If you have a problem with certain triggers, I’d say stay away, or be prepared to skip some sections as River is giving you pieces of his childhood. I kept having to pause and take deep breaths. It wasn’t easy to get through.
But because it was sooooo rough, it was EVERYTHING seeing him be put back together.
Then there’s Annie and she hasn’t had things easy, either. They both have so much in common. It’s not all immediately hunky dory either. It takes a while for things to even be amicable much less MORE. He’s a constant contradiction, but it makes sense with all he’s experienced and currently experiencing.
This book just has ALL the feels!! I never in the beginning would have believed that I’d later be laughing. And I laughed a LOT! The snark was perfect. And my heart did some serious clenching! And their first kiss. OH. MY!!! AHMAZZING!!!
Finally, I had originally intended to give this book 4.5 stars. I just wanted a little more of the happy coming together that they had. BUT, I can’t do it. I have to give this 5 stars because this book just isn’t letting me go! I’ve read about 10 books since I finished this one, and yet it’s this book that I just keep thinking about!
So have you read anything lately that just hasn’t let you go???
