Pieces of Us ~ Review

Ali here ~

Title: Pieces of Us
Series: Confessions of the Heart #3
Author: A.L. Jackson
Release Date: Apr 20, 2019
Blurb: Maxon Chambers has a way of stealing all the attention.
All my affection, and all my dreams.
What I needed to remember was he’d stolen my good judgment and my virginity, too.
When he broke up with me, I ran across the country and swore I’d never return to Broadshire Rim.
But here I am, thirteen years later.

Maxon is all grown up.
Sexier than sin and more tempting than ever.
A detective on the Charleston force, he lives on the outside of safety, devoted to protecting the people of his city.
But with the way he’s looking at me now? I’m pretty sure what needs protecting is my heart.

Can we mend the pieces of us? Or will he leave my heart shattered forever . . .

This book has been at the top of my most anticipated reads for 2019, and I just could NOT wait to read it. But, I dreaded it at the same time because I just don’t want to say goodbye to Jace, Ian, and Mack. I have LOVED every AL Jackson book I’ve read, but this Confessions of the Heart series has been my absolute FAVE! I have LOVED every heartwrenching, beautiful moment. Jackson knows how to bring on ALL the FEELS! And obviously Pieces of Us didn’t disappoint!
The chemistry between Izzy and Mack is off the charts and the progression in their relationship was just so natural. It felt right. The tension was intense but that tension came from more than just their chemistry. There were forces pulling against them. Things from the past wanting to rip them back apart. But, there were two absolutely beautiful children that impact this story in such a BIG way. These two boys are soooo well developed and will pull on your every heart string! One is just the cutest ball of energy, and the other is a fighter. He fights hard to get his body to do those things that most of us take for granted.
This book just has everything! You will laugh, you will cry (literally!), you’ll be terrified, and you’ll fly so high.
Mack struggles so hard with where he came from, and you’ll LOVE every moment of watching him fight to overcome those feelings of worthlessness. It’s just everything watching him fight so hard for what he calls “MINE”. And then there’s Izzy – so scared because Mack has the power to destroy her.
While this book can be read as a standalone, I don’t recommend it. I highly recommend that you don’t miss the first two books in this series! You will fall in love with Jace, Ian, and Mack – their stories all intertwined. 5 STRONG AMAZING STARS!!!
