Ali here ~
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date.Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

I always have an audio, kindle copy, and physical copy I am reading all at once. I listen to the audio while working around the house or driving. I read the physical copy while I’m sitting and taking a break or eating lunch. Then I read my kindle at night in bed. I’m only explaining this because I have people ask me why so many books at once. And to me it’s not really a lot at once. It’s just like watching several different TV shows and having no problem with that. Heir of Fire is my current audio. A Darker Shade of Magic is my current physical copy. And, Engaging Mr. Darcy is my current kindle copy.

On top of my regular reads, I’m reading these three. Anna Karenina and Sense and Sensibility are both group reads. I’m just reading enough to try to stay on pace. Sense and Sensibility is one I’m actually reading as part of two seperate group reads right now, so I’ll be ahead in one of those. But that’s fine because everything will still be fresh enough for me to engage in conversations for both groups.
Harry Potter is one I’m reading aloud to my son. He’s 14 and reads just fine all on his own, but he still loves for me to read aloud to him. I enjoy it, too. We get to have lots of great discussions while we’re reading together! He’s actually the biggest reader of my three children.

Jane Austen: A Life From Beginning to End is the only nonfiction piece I’m reading for #janeaustenjuly (or that I have planned at the moment). It’s a very short read, which I planned on purpose. I like nonfiction, but I have to be in the right mood for it, and I’m not right now. So, I chose a short nonfiction that I can read quickly. Chances are, I’ll have it and Engaging Mr. Darcy done today, but I just don’t know what kindle read I’ll start next.
Villette is one I’m reading for both #janeaustenjuly and #Medievalathon and it’s quite long. So, I’m wanting to go ahead and start it because I’m imagining it’ll probably start out slow and it’ll probably take me all month long to trudge through it.
Laters,
Ali
omg you’re reading adsom that’s amazing!! i have been meaning to read that for like.. years now haha. hope you enjoy it and all of the books you read next 💚
It had been on my TBR forever, so I get it!
My son reads aloud to his brother, they share a room and while the 15yo is a big reader, the 13yo is not at all. I love hearing it, and often don’t have the heart to go in and tell them to go to sleep when I hear it.
Have a great reading week
I get it! My 14yr old (he’ll be 15 this month) has always been the one staying up late with a flashlight to read. I rarely have the heart to tell him to go to sleep. My daughter (almost 12) doesn’t enjoy reading herself but she likes being read to. I’m hoping it will ultimately progress to her at least pursuing audio books on her own.
I’m glad to see Storm and Fury was such a great read for you. A Darker Shade of Magic is one of my favorites so I hope you enjoy that one as well.
I am almost done with A Darker Shade of Magic. It makes me think of Lord of the Rings. My precious!
Storm and Fury looks so good!!
I loved it! Can’t wait for the next one!
