#IMWAYR ~ 4/27/20

Alison here ~

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date. Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

I really enjoyed each of these! You can check out my reviews if you’re interested: Serpent & Dove, Wild at Heart, and Lady Midnight.

I’m not loving Summer of ’69, but I’m continuing to read it with my group. I’m enjoying Lord of Shadows. The Screwtape Letters is a group read, but also a reread for me. I always enjoy it when I’m reading it, but it’s not one that begs me to pick it up once I put it down. All the Stars and Teeth is still just okay.

And as for Shadow of the Fox, I’m honestly just a little confused. I feel like I’m reading the beginning of Tale of Two Cities when I’m trying to figure out how all the bits fit together. And unfortunately with my first read of Tale of Two Cities, I hated the book until I got to the end and saw how it all worked together. I just don’t have the patience for that right now. Have any of you read it? Will it all start to fit together and make sense soon, or should I just put it down for now? I do know that I’ll eventually want to finish it.

I have possibly even picked up My Favorite Half-Night Stand by the time you’re reading this… The others are all potential reads.

Happy Reading,

  1. Ooh, you read Wild at Heart already! I’ll be checking out your review for it after this. Lots of good books on your list 😀 I’m sorry that All the Stars and Teeth is still just ‘okay’ for you. I’ve heard lots of good things about Wicked Fox and have been thinking about picking it up soon because it’s quite hyped, so I hope it becomes easier to follow soon! Happy reading ❤

    • Last night I read chapter 4 or 5 of Shadow of the Fox and it was the first time that a chapter had any connection to a previous chapter, so maybe from here on out it will. And if that happens, maybe I can start making some connections. I haven’t put it down yet. I’ve just really been more in the mood for books that suck me right in.
