*****My Review*****

I started this book so concerned that I was going to hate the whole thing. And I can’t honestly say that I wasn’t ready to strangle Julian in the beginning, but in typical Clare fashion, she made everything better. I was so pleased with how things worked out for Julian and Emma. And something I particularly enjoyed ~ I have read several books lately where things were torn down and then things were made better and the book was over. That often leaves me left feeling blah. I’m still swimming in the negative because I didn’t have enough bliss at the end to make up for things. That so wasn’t the case with this book, and I so very much appreciated it.

And while I’ve loved Julian and Emma’s story from the beginning, it was actually the threesome forming between Christina, Mark, and Kieran that became my absolute favorite storyline. I just wanted more of them. I would have never suspected that I’d fall in love with them, but I so did! Which makes me think, if you’re looking for diversity reps, this book is FULL of them!

I was also very intrigued with Ty (autism rep) and Kit’s story. I really want to see more concerning their relationship in a future series!! Cassandra, please make this happen. I also want more of Dru, of course! And I’d be remiss not to mention the other Blackthorns. I love this family and their sibling bonds.

And that ending with Magnus and Alec?!?!?! That was just everything sigh worthy!!!

Now the only thing I would have changed would have been for things not to go quite so far with Julian when he was in zombie mode.

Overall, even with all the yuck in the middle, this story was such an awesome read! I really can’t wait to read more from Clare!! 4.5 Stars!!!

Happy Reading,

  4. Glad this one surprised you! I read The Mortal Instruments series and The Infernal Devices trilogy but decided I was ready to move on from the Shadowhunter world after that. I don’t really have any desire to get back into it but I will admit that whenever I read a glowing review I do get the tiniest stab of FOMO. 🙂
