Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
Happy Tuesday everyone!! I hope your week has gotten off to a good start! Today’s Top Ten topic is Reasons Why I Love [insert your favorite book title, genre, author, etc. here], and I decided to go with Fantasy.
Unique Worlds
LOL! Not really. But I do love stepping into new worlds.
Unique Creatures
I’ll have to do a post at some point sharing some of my favorites.
Politics
I so agree! Politics are messy! And in real life, I ABHOR politics. But, I very much enjoy reading about fictional politics.
Complete Escape
While it’s true that you can escape with any genre, there’s something about a fantasy being so different from reality that makes that escape seem bigger. Further away.
Different Rules
I love examining societies that operate under different sets of rules and comparing them to reality.
Imagery
I love the imagery in so many fantasy novels. There have been so many awesome descriptions of places and things that I would so love to experience in real life. The Night Circus is one of the first places that comes to mind second only to Narnia.
Hope
There’s different ways to look at this word and how it relates to my love of fantasy. First I’d say that it’s a common theme in the fantasy books I’ve loved. Even when things seem beyond all repair, there always remains a fragment of hope. But, beyond that, if things can get that bad and they still hold onto hope for a better world, why can’t I?!?!
All the Players
I know you can have a large cast of characters in other genres of books, but I haven’t seen any genre pull it off so well as fantasy. Not every author can pull this off. But there are so many great authors that have with great depths to the characters.
Sparks the Imagination
Fantasies often spark my imagination and have me dreaming up my own worlds and scenarios.
Romance
We all know romance isn’t specific to fantasy novels, but I couldn’t go without mentioning it. Why? Because my favorites all contain the absolute best love stories!
Happy Reading,
Alison

Love this list and I totally agree with you on all these reasons! The escapism of fantasy is definitely one of my personal favourite aspects of it. Sometimes you’re just kind of done with the real world 🤷🏻♀️ Haha

Politics in Fantasy doesn’t bug me, but I hate reading about politics in romance novels. Ick.

I’m not much of a fantasy reader (and can probably count on both hands the number of fantasy books I’ve read), but there are always rare exceptions. But the truth is, I’m usually just there for the romance. LOL
