May 2020 Monthly Wrap-Up

May was filled with a bit of excitement for me, but unfortunately not the pleasant kind. But, we did have blessings mixed in amongst the chaos. I’m hoping June brings only the pleasant sort of surprises.
Here’s the books I picked out for my May TBR. I know I mentioned at the beginning of the month that this was a very loose TBR. I really didn’t expect to stick to it, but I love putting together lists anyways. Let’s see how many I actually read ~

I actually read each of these! I already have my review posted for The Bookish Life of Nina Hill HERE and Love and Other Words HERE. Both were really good 4 star reads for me. I also loved Love Lettering (4.75 Stars) and Grip (4 1/2 Stars) and hope to have those reviews up soon.

My hold on Pumpkinhead finally came through, BUT it wasn’t compatible with my kindle. So, I’ll have to wait until I can get my fingers on a physical copy. I know I’ll enjoy that format best anyway. The Forbidden Man was the physical copy I was hoping to pick up after reading All the Stars and Teeth, BUT I am STILL reading All the Stars and Teeth. I’m nearing the finish line with it at least. I did read Between the Notes and really enjoyed it (4 1/2 Stars). My review can be found HERE. And I just picked up Sick Kids in Love yesterday, but I haven’t yet started it.

I also didn’t get to Dance of Thieves, Saint Anything, or The Perfect Escape. It wasn’t that I wasn’t feeling them. I just ran out of time. I’m so hoping to get to them soon. I just finished Fallen Fourth Down (3 !/2 stars). I really enjoyed the book until the ending. I wasn’t happy with the ending at all, so unfortunately it really killed my overall enjoyment.

I actually tried to pick up Cold-Hearted Rake, but the library is no longer holding a kindle copy. They are holding an audiobook, so maybe I can listen to that soon. I didn’t have the time to pick up The Loneliest Girl in the Universe or Love Her or Lose Her. I did get The Traitor’s Kiss finished yesterday. It was a strong 4 star read for me. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series!

So, I got 7 of the 16 books on my May TBR read.

Now, here’s a list of other books I read this month ~

Dating You Hating You ~ 3 Stars ~ Review
Lord of Shadows ~ 4 1/2 Stars ~ Review
House of Earth And Blood ~ 5 Stars ~ Review
Shadow of the Fox ~ 4 Stars ~ Review
The Screwtape Letters ~ 3 Stars

The Tourist Attraction ~ 4 Stars ~ Review
The Lost Sisters ~ 4 Stars ~ Review
The Friend Zone ~ 4 1/2 Stars ~ Review
Master of Revenge ~ 4 Stars ~ Review
Timid ~ 4 Stars ~ Review

Queen of Air and Darkness ~ 4 1/2 Stars ~ Review
99 Percent Mine ~ 4 Stars ~ Review
The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society ~ 4 1/2 Stars ~ Review
The Trials of Morrigan Crow ~ 4 1/2 Stars

I read a total of 21 books in May. That’s two more than my whopping 19 last month. And 3Ā  of these were over 700 pages. So, I had a pretty awesome reading month, especially considering I haven’t been rushing through these. I’ve been trying to savor them. BUT, when they’re really good, I kinda can’t help myself. LOL!

~ Favorite of the Month ~

This book was everything I hoped for and more! If you’re a Maas fan, I can’t imagine you not loving this one. I’ve even been seeing tons of reviews from those that don’t like ACOTAR or ToG that are enjoying this one. It’s definitely perfect for those that enjoy the perfect mix of fantasy and romance!

What was your favorite read in May??

Happy Reading,
Alison

  2. Iā€™m glad you had some good to temper the not so good in May. Hopefully June will be a better month for us all. Twenty-one books in May is simply amazing! Iā€™m so envious of how much you read. šŸ™‚

    • Yes! I’m definitely hoping things will start to improve for us all this month!! And thanks! I’m not quite sure how I squeezed that many books in. Audiobooks while I’m doing chores helps!
