Reading with Jessica and That Artsy Reader Girl are hosting a fun summer reading event called New-to-Me-Author Summer Bingo! I first heard of this over at A Novel Glimpse and knew I wanted to try to participate. I needed some encouragement to pick up some books by authors I’ve been meaning to try for a while now.
The Basics:
- This event lasts from June 1st-August 31st, which is perfect because it won’t overrun any other reading challenges you’re participating in or books you’re excited to read that don’t fit this challenge’s parameters.
- You can only count books towards the bingo card if you have not read that author before.
- A bingo can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. You can also go for multiple bingos or blackout if you’re feeling ambitious.
- Use the hashtag #nasbingo to share updates on your progress and tell us what you’re hoping to read.
I’m a little late to the game, but that’s fine by me. I still have plenty of time to pull off a bingo. My goal is any bingo, but I’m going for blackout with my TBR because that’s how I like to roll. LOL!
Here’s the bingo board ~

Omg this sounds like so much fun and I’m now very tempted to join in?! But I’ve been doing so badly with challenges this year (pretty much failing all of them LOL) that I think maybe I’ll just do it “informally” to see if I can actually complete one 🤣 There are lots of great reads on your list, and ones that I’m also looking forward to trying. I hope you enjoy them and good luck with the challenge 😀

I hear ya! I totally flunked the O.W.L.s, but I think I’m up for this challenge now. I only technically have to read 4 books to pull off a bingo, so that’s not too hard!

I have *so* much love for Anne Bishops Others series. I’ve listened to the entire series on audio probably three times now. I just love returning to those characters again and again. Good luck with the challenge!

I see some books I love up there!!! Lucky Caller, Just Listen, and One Day in December were stupendous for me (I hope you like them) I enjoyed Jamieson’s Aces Hockey books, and though Don’t You Forget About Me leaned more women’s fiction, I did like it. There is a trigger in there. Don’t know if you know, but I understand some readers were taken aback by it.

I am looking forward to them all! I have already started Don’t You Forget About Me. I suspected from the very beginning that there might be a trigger issue involved, but thanks for the heads up. I read someone else’s review after I’d already started it about it being more women’s fic. Right now I’m feeling a little indifferent about it, but I’m continuing to read for now. I guess for me it just seems very slow paced. There just doesn’t seem to be a whole lot happening.
