Top Ten Tuesday ~ Books I Want for My Birthday

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

Happy Tuesday everyone!! I hope your week has gotten off to a good start! Today’s Top Ten topic is Books for My Younger Self. I have already done a variation of this on a few occasions, so I’m going rebel this week. My birthday is coming up in a couple weeks, and my crazy family keeps asking me what I want followed by the statement, “Besides books.” Ummmmmmm. WHAT?!? My daughter said I already don’t have enough shelves to store the books I already own. So, I replied that she could get me a new bookshelf then….

My mother says she hates buying me books because she never knows which ones I already have, so I now keep a wishlist to hand over to the fam when they ask. And today, I thought it would be fun to share with y’all 10 books that I have already read and loved and would like to have a physical copy of.

These are in no particular order, and in case you can’t read all of the covers ~

The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Red Winter by Annette Marie
Caraval by Stephanie Garber
The Bronze Horseman by Paulina Simons
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
Written in Red by Anne Bishop

  1. Great selections – hope you get them all!! I really like the cover for crescent moon I’ve heard so mcuh about it I think I might look it up. Seeing Simon vs the homosapiense agenda made me smile – it’s one of my favourite books of all time and would really really recommend! This week was a hard prompt (there were so many options haha) but I really like where you’ve gone with it. Here was my go at this TTT 🙂 :https://hundredsandthousandsofbooks.blog/2020/09/15/top-ten-tuesday-predicting-plots-of-books-on-my-tbr/

  2. Ooh, so are these books only for family to get you? 🙂
It’s a great list! Lots on here that I still want to read as well but I hope your family surprises you with some of these. I started keeping better track of what’s on my wishlist too lol

    • Well, I pretty much keep a wishlist for myself, but I share it with my family on my birthday and for Christmas. I have a lot of others on my wishlist, but these were just 10 of the books on my list that I had already read and loved.

  3. My birthday is this month, too, and I told my sister about a couple books I wanted. There is no such thing as too many books! Luckily, she’s a reader, too, so she gets it. 🙂

From your list: I loved Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda. One of the very few books I have re-read. And Written in Red, obviously. I’ve listened to that whole series on audio at least three times now. And The Bronze Horseman. I consider that one of my favorite books ever. But it did kind of destroy me and I still haven’t been able to continue the series.

    • Awesome!! I hope you have an amazing birthday! I totally understand what you’re saying with The Bronze Horseman! I don’t think I have ever read another book that had such a lasting impact on me. I’ve been reading the Others on kindle. You have me wanting to check out the audiobooks!

  4. You sound like you have the same problem as me and my mom! My dad said he won’t build her any more bookshelves so she mostly buys on Kindle now. I don’t tend to reread books so I usually don’t buy a copy of something I read even if I really liked it, I try to focus on books I haven’t read yet that are also not available at my local libraries. 🙂
