Happy Tuesday! It’s been over two weeks since I’ve last posted, and for those of you that usually follow me, you know that’s a long time for me! I’m not even sure where to start. A lot of you know that I have been taking care of my FIL since his cancer diagnosis. Since my last update we have done chemo, CTs, MRIs, lab work, and doctors visits, and he’s on his second hospital stay (yes both have been in the last two weeks). They think they found another tumor that’s creating a blockage in his bowels. We’re waiting now to hear more on what they’ll do. This alone has been more than a full-time job and one that’s extremely stressful.
At some point during that first hospital stay, my FIL’s wife finds her mother face down on the floor of her kitchen – unresponsive. She has since been moved into a nursing home with her sister, but she doesn’t even recognize her own sister. We have yet to get any answers as to what is going on with her. Everything they have looked for has come back fine.
On top of that my mom’s brother is still suffering from the brain bleed and other issues from his accident, so my mom had to head to FL on Thursday to go see doctors with him. She should be back on Thursday.
And just after my husband gets home from meeting with doctors for his dad on Sunday, we get a text that my brother is being rushed to the hospital. He had a 4-wheeler accident. He’s unconscious and bleeding out of his nose and one ear. Y’all, I have to be honest with you, and tell you that I broke for a minute. I was shaking so hard that I couldn’t even dial my mom’s number. My husband helped me gather myself so I could make that impossibly hard call. I’ll stop here and say that we believe my brother is going to be okay. He has multiple face fractures and a ruptured eardrum amongst many other issues, but nothing life threatening. I got to visit with him this morning and he was coherent.
So, that has all happened in the last 2 weeks. And those are just the highlights. Most of our country has been consumed with elections, and we’ve barely been able to give them a thought other than making sure we squeezed in time to vote between meetings with doctors.
Needless to say, I would really like for things to chill out. I do have to say that it hasn’t been all bad, though. We’ve had so many blessings come our way while we’re dealing with everything. And my husband has been one of the absolute biggest blessings himself.
And I have gotten in some reading while doing things like sitting through 3 1/2 hrs of chemo. As long as no emergencies pop up, I’ll share the books I’ve gotten to read on tomorrow’s WWW post. I usually do most of my reading at night, but for the most part I have fallen in bed too exhausted to pick up a book lately. Hopefully things will calm down soon. I sure miss my blogging friends!! Thanks so much for all the support!!
Happy Reading,
Alison
I am just stunned by all that you have been dealing with. How overwhelming. I’m so sorry that your family has been dealt so many health issues these last few weeks. Hang in there, my friend. I’m so glad your husband is such a great support to you.

Thanks so much, Tanya! We are staying strong (for the most part – LOL). We usually share all of our updates right after we both get home each day, and then we let all of that go for the rest of the night and just enjoy each other (barring any emergencies).
