I did something a little different this month when coming up with my TBR. I am always having thoughts like “I need to finish some of the series I have going,” or “I want to read more historical fiction,” or “I need to read more of the books I own already,” etc. So, for this TBR, I picked 16 categories and chose a book for each.
Without further ado, here are my picks for April ~
My first 2 books were ones chosen by my besties. I have been letting them both pick one of my books each month, and this month they chose Unfaithful and The Mysterious Benedict Society.
My third category was to fulfill one of the prompts for my “Magic in the Books” Challenge I’m participating in. The prompt is “read a book with clothing on the cover.” I decided to pick a book that featured clothing without seeing the person.
And my fourth category was a 2021 debut.
I did a TTT post recently featuring the 10 books that have been on my TBR the longest, and I knew I wanted to start tackling those books. So, this prompt is the book that has been on my TBR the longest, and The Crown’s Game held that title!
I also recently did a post on book series I need to finish. So, this prompt is to read a book from a series I need to finish. I chose Soul of the Sword because it has been calling my name.
Next, I decided to throw in the category of a new release, and Twice Shy is the one that is closest to having my hold come through on. I do need to tack on here that I’ll be reading The Crown of Gilded Bones just as soon as I get my hands on it. I have some beautiful physical copies of the series coming my way, but I just don’t know when they’ll arrive. If they take too long, I’ll probably break down and get a kindle copy, too.
And next I chose the category of finishing a book I already have in progress.
Next I chose a reread. I actually could have gone one of two directions here. I knew I wanted to reread this and the Six of Crows duology. I knew I was already going to be motivated to finish SoC before the series starts later this month, so I decided to choose An Ember in the Ashes, so I could reread it, too. I have been wanting to reread the first few books for a while now, so I can finally finish the series.
Next I chose to read a book that I already own on kindle but haven’t read yet. Dear Ava is one that I’ve been wanting to read for a while now, so it was an obvious choice.
Then while I had my kindle on my mind, it reminded me that I have a lot of books on KU that I need to read. So, I chose a KU book next. And after talking to Misty at Misty’s Book Space about this book, I knew this was the one I wanted to go with.
And for the next category, I chose a graphic novel. Graphic novels are something I enjoy, but just don’t read a lot of. I went with Witchy because I already own it.
For my next category I chose to read a book box subscription book that I haven’t already read. (I have way too many of these!!)
Then I chose a mystery. I have really been enjoying mysteries lately. And I conveniently chose one that I already have in progress as motivation to finish it.
Next up is a group read. I’m going to be reading The Fellowship of the Ring with my besties.
And last, but not least is a historical fiction. The Other Boleyn Girl is one that I’ve been wanting to read for a long time now.
That wraps up my April TBR. I had a lot of fun choosing categories before I chose my books this month, so I’ll probably be sticking with that – at least until my mood changes. LOL! What books are you hoping to read in April???
And stay tuned. I hope to have my March Wrap-Up posted in the next day or two to see how I did with my March TBR.
