The Sunday Post & IMWAYR

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Highlights/Happenings

Saturday we celebrated our oldest son’s birthday while he was in for the weekend. This week while meeting with his advisor he decided to tack on another degree, so now he’s majoring in Environmental Science with minors in Forestry and Wildlife. We’ll see if he sticks with all of it. He said he sees that a lot of people start out where he is, but end up dropping down to just a major in Forestry or Wildlife because it’s so much science. And I understand. He’s wrapping up his sophomore year now, and I think all but 2 of the classes he has left are sciences, 5 of them are chemistry. But, he’s doing great, and is still carrying his 4.0, which he may or may not keep this semester with his Calculus class. Either way, his daddy and I are super proud of him.

Other than that it was a typical week around here. I didn’t watch any movies, but I did watch a little TV: some of the NASCAR race, American Idol, Fear the Walking Dead, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (finally wrapped up the season), and The Voice. I only watched one episode of each of those, with the exception of the last 2 FaWS, but it was still a lot of TV for me. It was just one of those weeks where the hubs kept asking me to watch something with him, and I couldn’t say no. And it was also weird that I didn’t play any board games.

What I Read Last Week

Book of the Week

Ok, sorry, I can’t decide.

Currently Reading

I made progress on all of these last week. I expect I’ll probably finish An Ember in the Ashes today and possibly Restless Slumber, too.

What I’m Reading Next

Possibly one of these? But really, who knows?? Not me!

What’s going on this week?

Since The Sunday Post part of this is coming out a day late, I hope all of you celebrating Mother’s Day yesterday had a great one! I’ll share our day in next week’s edition of TSP.

Since my kids are wrapping up their school year, my daughter has decided she wants to change rooms. We’ll be starting this project this week, but it’s likely to take us all summer. She’s wanting to move into the room that currently operates as my library. It houses 90% of my books and all of our board games. To make this more complicated, there’s a third room that will be involved in this exchange as we’re rearranging. It’ll be a task and a half.

And Friday we have our final class day of the year, which will really just be an end of the year celebration.

How was your week?

Happy Reading,

Alison

  1. You have a lot going on! Glad your son is doing well in school and enjoy what he is doing so far! Happy belated birthday to him! I love changing rooms and moving furniture but it is a lot of work especially when books are involved, haha. Hope you have a good week of reading!

  2. Wow, your son sounds like he’s doing so great! I did Enviro Sci when I was in high school and it was one of my favourite classes so I can imagine doing it at uni would be even more amazing! Good luck to him 🙂 And good luck to you with the room move! The prospect of a new room is always exciting but never fun to actually pack and move all the things 😂 How are you liking the Fortuna Sworn series? Hope you had a wonderful Mum’s Day and have a great week ahead, Ali!

    • Thx! He’s really enjoying it. Fingers crossed it’ll lead to the job he wants. My daughter is so excited about the room move, but it has been a big chore working on it this week. She’s been working hard, though, and not putting it off on me. She’s even suckered her brother into assisting. He even had a friend over today helping to haul books downstairs. Fortuna Sworn…hmm….well, I’m enjoying it enough that I’m onto book 2. But, she does get on my nerves with the whole love pentagon she’s got going on (there’s a lot of them). I’m hoping she’s almost over all that. I know you’re not into triangles, though, so I think you probably wouldn’t love this one. And thanks! I had a great Mother’s Day!

  3. Your son sounds like he’s doing great, and Environmental Science sounds fascinating. I sometimes wish I had gone into something like that, but Chemistry was never my friend. 🙂

I’m thinking of getting back into Fear the Walking Dead- another blogger has been raving about this newest season. I kinda fell away a season or two ago…

Good luck with the moving around of rooms!

    • Thx! I know I’m intimidated just thinking about all the chemistry he has to take. LOL!

I can’t say that I’m loving Fear the Walking Dead, but it’s one of the few shows that my hubby likes that I can get into. We’ve been watching that and Walking Dead for years. I keep thinking they’re dwindling it all down to end it, but then they keep coming up with new story lines.

  4. Good luck with the room switches. Could be a fun summer project. I can relate to a science heavy college schedule. My undergrad degree is chemical engineering. So much science and math. Your son sounds like he is doing amazing though.
