Top Ten Tuesday ~ Books on My TBR with Amputee Reps

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

Happy Tuesday everyone!! I hope your week has gotten off to a good start! Last Monday we had a big tree fall in our front yard, but away from our house. This Monday someone ran a red light and hit the vehicle my son was in on the way to camp. Thank you Lord, no one was hurt!

Today’s Top Ten topic is Books on My Summer 2021 TBR. I’m changing it up a bit, though. I had a conversation last year with Misty at Misty’s Book Space about the lack of amputee reps in books. So, I’ve been wanting to bring some light onto the topic. It just took me so long to do so after dealing with the cancer stuff. Speaking of cancer stuff, my father-in-law just had another scan done, and he’s continuing to improve for now! We’re so thankful!

I’m excited to see what everyone wants to read this summer!! I shied away from the topic since I’ve been mood reading lately, and didn’t feel like making an actual TBR.

Upcoming Topics

List the top 10 books you’d love to own and include a link to a wishlist so that people can grant your wish. Make sure you link your wishlist to your mailing address [here’s how to do it on Amazon] or include the email address associated with your ereader so people know how to get the book to you. 1. I’m glad your son is okay! Car accidents can be scary things. I like your take on this week’s topic. I think I have only read one book with an amputee in it.

  2. I appreciate you doing this post more than you will ever know. I haven’t heard of any of the books you mentioned but I will definitely be saving this post so I can look into everyone of them as well as the ones people mentioned in the comments.

I’ve read Girl Out of Water by Laura Silverman and it was actually the first book I ever read with amputation rep and I really enjoyed it. I’ve also read a non fiction book called On My Own Two Feet: The Journey from Losing My Legs to Learning the Dance of Life by Amy Purdy and I enjoyed that one as well. I feel like I’ve read at least one more but I can’t remember.

      • I forgot about Float Plan. The hero was an amputee. Kati Gardner (who lost her leg to cancer) wrote two books feature amputees – one below the knee, and one like herself, full leg. The Running Dream, Soul Surfer, How We Roll, Phantom Limbs, Girl Out of Water, I’ll Meet You There, 100 Days of Sunlight – these come to mind. All were great
