The Sunday Post & IMWAYR

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date. Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

I spent the majority of last week in North Carolina on vacation with my family and my mom. We spent most of the week in Bryson City and then one day and night in Charlotte. The house we rented had quite a few perks for us. It was way up on a mountainside and the highs were in the upper 70s. That alone was awesome for me! But, it also had a nice hot tub, fire pit, and game room with a ping pong table my kids made a lot of use of.

Sunday we spent the day in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park hiking and visiting some waterfalls.

Monday we rode the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad to the Nantahala Gorge.

Tuesday we went white water rafting down the Nantahala River. Our few pics are from a section of the river that was actually calm enough for us not to have to paddle. LOL!

Wednesday we went to the Oconaluftee Indian Village on the Cherokee Reservation.

And Thursday we drove to Charlotte to go to the NASCAR Hall of Fame. My oldest son and my hubby finished 1st and 2nd in the iRacing simulator. They were quite proud of themselves.

But, after being gone more than I’ve been home since the middle of June, well, I’m happy to be home for a while. Oh, and I just got a new bed. We downsized and that’ll probably take a small adjustment period despite the fact that the hubs likes to snuggle while he sleeps, so we don’t tend to use a lot of our bed. I’m happy to have the extra floor space, though.

What I Read Last Week

Book of the Week

This was a very short listen at just under 6 hours, but it completely wrapped me up in that time span so completely. And, it didn’t feel like it was cut too short either. If you love sweet, sugary guys, then this book is for you!

Currently Reading

Believe it or not, I have actually just been reading one book at a time lately. If I find I’m not into it, I put it down and move onto the next. But, in the middle of listening to Yes & I Love You, my internet started acting up, and I couldn’t stream my book. So, I picked up a physical copy of On the Rocks. It’s been raining most of the day which really messes with our wifi out here, so On the Rocks has been getting most of my attention since last night. I’m enjoying both books, though!

What I’m Reading Next

I have no idea. It’ll just be whatever is calling to me at the moment I finish my current reads.

What’s going on this week?

We’re back to working on the room swaps. My brother (after covid ran through our family) had to push my bookshelves back a few weeks, but he says they should be done by the end of the month. My daughter and I are still trying to move all of the books and stuff out of my old library, so she can move into that room.

Saturday we’re having some friends over and celebrating our middle son’s birthday. I can’t believe he’ll be starting his final year of high school next month!

How was your week? Any exciting upcoming plans?

Happy Reading,

  1. Glad you had so much fun on your trip! I would like to visit the Smoky Mountains eventually on the Tennessee side. It was supposed to be our honeymoon trip but never happened, lol. One day!

    • Thanks so much! I hope you get to do that one day! I’ve been through a lot of TN since my dad lives there. Chattanooga is beautiful. I haven’t spent any time in Gatlinburg yet, though, and I’d like to do that.

    • Thanks! It was definitely a fun vacation. I am enjoying it! I think I’m about to switch over to ebook format, so I can read it on my kindle without any interruptions with my wifi acting up.

  2. As if I wasn’t already jealous of the weather you enjoyed on your trip, the pictures were beautiful. So happy you had a nice trip. And look at you, reading one book at a time. I enjoyed Yes & I Love You so much. I hope you do too.

    • Thanks so much! I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. I didn’t make it far into Yes & I Love You last night before the wifi cut out, but it didn’t take long for me to feel for both of them. I’m excited to dig in further!
