The Sunday Post & IMWAYR

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date. Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

Highlights/Happenings

I spent the majority of last week prepping for our first week of school. It took me all week, but I was ready for our first day of class today!

I didn’t get my bookshelves yet for my library. My brother aspirated a cashew and got pneumonia. He kept apologizing for not getting my shelves to me in time. I’m just thankful he’s alive!

We did manage to get my daughter her new bed. And we moved the last of the library books out of her new room.

What I Read Last Week

Yes, I read ten books, which is a lot for me. But, several of these were quick listens on audible. That being said, it was still a lot of books for me, and I’m not quite sure how I got through them all so quickly since I was so busy last week.

Book(s) of the Week

I’m choosing two. Both of these were 4 1/2 stars and highly enjoyable reads for me.

Currently Reading

I just finished a book late last night and haven’t started anything new yet. Hannah Coulter will be an ongoing book for a while because it’s for a group read on a schedule.

What I’m Reading Next

I’ll be rereading this for school over the next several weeks. Other than that, I’m not quite sure what I’ll be picking up next.

What’s going on this week?

My mom is having her first cataract surgery this week, so I’ll be her driver for that. Other than that, we’ll be focusing on getting back into the swing of school for the year.

How was your week? Any exciting upcoming plans?

Happy Reading,

Alison

    • Thanks! It’s been quite a while since I’ve read The Scarlet Letter myself. Now that I have my kids reading it, I figured I’d better give it a reread for discussion purposes. I am appreciating it more this go around. It’s a sad story, though!

There are some pretty great books here that I’ll have to check out!

  2. Glad to hear your brother is doing okay and I hope your mum’s surgery went well! 10 books in a week is seriously amazing! The cover for The Detour looks absolutely adorable but was the book good, too? Lol I hope you had a good week!

  3. Glad your brother is okay! That sounds absolutely scary. My daughter starts her first day of homeschooling next Monday and I am not ready, haha. Hope the school year goes well for your family!

    • Thanks! Definitely scary! And just have fun with the school. We played lots of learning games when mine were little, and I just pushed a little. I did my best to make learning fun. When you find yourself getting stressed, just take a break from schooling. That may be 5 minutes, 2 hours, or the rest of the day. And don’t get discouraged when things get hard! You’ll do great!

    • Thanks! Definitely a scary few days. And thanks again, I can definitely use some well wishes for the school year. I feel like we got off to a decent start. You’ll for sure have to check out Chase’s series!
