Happy Friday! I hope you’ve all been having a fantastic week and are looking forward to a great weekend. My mom and I will be baking Christmas cookies tomorrow, and Sunday the fam will be going to watch the new Spider Man.
First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page.
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet — you need to hook the reader first.
- Finally… reveal the book!

This is another book that I currently have sitting on my shelves that I haven’t read yet but hope to soon.
Happy Reading,
Alison
Great first lines! I definitely want to read this one (and more of Hannah’s books eventually)!

I’ve only read The Nightingale so far, but I loved it. Don’t know why I haven’t picked up more of her books yet.

I have heard of this author but have never read one of her books. They all look great though and I love the first lines for this one!

I read and loved The Nightingale, but it’s the only one I’ve read so far.

I only read the one Hannah book, but it’s a great opening line. I hope you post pictures of all your cookies. My daughter was supposed to make cookies for us, but she is coming later now because she got covid (darn virus!)

Aww, I saw this post too late. I didn’t take pics. So sorry your daughter got covid – especially right here at Christmas. *HUGS*

I knew I recognized that line, but forgot it was from this book!

You’ve read it? Did you like it?

It was good, but not my favorite by her. It was a little too depressing for me at times with the state of the world when I read it.
