Happy Monday! I have been fighting a migraine for about a week. I did manage to get 12 trees planted in my yard Saturday. I planned out upcoming changes to our vegetable garden with my mom. And we made plans for chickens, which we’re soon to start raising again. We also discussed plans with my oldest son, who came home for the weekend, on his wanting to start a pollinator garden here. He did a little prep work for that, too, since some of the seeds he ordered had started arriving. That’ll be a two birds one stone sort of thing. We can use the pollinators for our garden, especially for our different varieties of squash, and he wants to observe the insects it will attract when he visits. Unfortunately after all of the work I did Saturday morning, my head was pounding again that night. At least I accomplished something first.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date. Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.
WHAT I READ

I didn’t think I was going to get any of these finished, but then I finally finished my reread of House of Earth and Blood. That freed me up to finish the rest of Lucky Leap Day and Bound By Duty, which I had started already, but they weren’t getting a lot of my attention. Then I quickly listening to most of Bound By Hatred last night. I only had to listen to the last little bit of it this morning to finish it. I listened to it on low volume this morning in the my dark and cold room while waiting on my migraine pills to kick in. Fortunately they worked quickly. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to look at this screen right now. Granted, I do have it on the lowest brightness setting, and I’m wearing glasses to cut out blue light to help.
Enough talk about migraines. We all know they suck. Books. House of Earth and Blood was just as amazing the second time around. There’s so much packed into the book that I could reread it a ton of times and never get it all. It’s an above and beyond 6 star read for me. While I enjoyed Lucky Leap Day, it wasn’t all I hoped for. I hated that the whole book wasn’t set in Ireland for starters. But, I still gave it 4 stars. Bound By Duty was 4 stars. Dante just doesn’t at all measure up to Luca for me. But, I really enjoyed Matteo’s story in Bound By Hatred. Matteo, again isn’t Luca, but he was a good runner up. I’m looking forward to continuing on with the series.
WHAT I’M READING NOW

Honestly, while these are the last 3 books that I’ve started and haven’t finished, they haven’t been read in a while. I haven’t DNFed them, though. They’ve just been on the backburner for a bit.
WHAT I’M READING NEXT
(Or More Appropriately: Things on my TBR)

This is my current plan, which is always changing. The only thing you can count on here is that I’ll for sure be starting House of Sky and Breath today. I can’t wait!! And then I’m hoping to squeeze some Fallen Crest in, so I can finally finish this series. I will only have 2 books left after I read the ones listed here.
How’s your Monday going???
Happy Reading,
Migraines suck for sure! I love your update about your garden, Ali! I love to plant trees and plants. It’s so relaxing and it’s amazing to watch them grow. 😀

Oof, I’m so sorry you’ve been having a bad time with the migraines 😭 I just got new glasses with all the blue light/screen protection/no tired eyes lenses the other day and it’s already done wonders to cut down my headaches and migraines! Your garden sounds amazing though and at least you’ve still been able to read a few books, which is fab! I hope you have a migraine-less week ahead, Ali!

Thanks! I’ve had the glasses for a while now, but I always forget to wear them until my head starts hurting.

I hope you are feeling better! Your garden sounds amazing and glad you got some reading done. I’m reading House of Sky and Breath right now – decided not to reread House of Earth and Blood.

Thanks so much! I started House of Sky and Breath yesterday. I haven’t had a lot of time to dig in yet, but I’m already curious to see how that prologue will play into things.

Oh no I’m sorry to hear you are dealing with a migraine for that long! I hope things will improve soon… Your garden plans sound brilliant though! I always love planting flowers and plants that will attract lots of insects; I’m planning to include lots close to our future fruit trees and veggie patch too. xx

Thx! I’m still struggling with the migraine haziness, but it’s better than yesterday. Hopefully nothing will set it back off. We’re looking forward to doing more planting! We’re putting the pollinator garden near our vegetable patches this year, but I do want to put some near our mandarin trees in the future. It was nice getting my hands dirty after all of the freezing weather. LOL!

I hope your migraine will disappear completely soon! Also, if you want a quick fix for your fruit trees: lavender plants are excellent at attracting all kinds of insects including bees and they last years as well as looking pretty. 😉 I’m hoping to get various flowers mixed in with my vegetable patch next year; I’ve heard sunflowers, calendula, nasturtiums, poppies and cosmo are especially great for that.

My son got a huge variety to add in this year, plus we already have a lot of perennials that will be popping up. I’ll have to check your list against ours!

That sounds great! I love perennials as well because it’s less planting/sowing seeds to worry about. 😉

Ha! Yes! They’re a whole lot less work.

Boo for migraines. Hope you can get some relief. But, yeah for your son and all the cool garden stuff going on over there. I had expected to spend more time in Ireland with Lucky Leap Day too. I still enjoyed it because Finn was so great (the dog too)

Yes, the gardening stuff is awesome. And I forgot to mention that my daughter is starting a pumpkin patch, too. While my oldest and youngest enjoy planting. My middle child enjoys the landscaping projects. I love that they all enjoy being outdoors in nature and not just in front of a screen. And I agree that Finn (and the dog, too!) were the highlights of the story!
