The Sunday Post 1/29/23

Happy Sunday! I hope you’ve all had a good week!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Personal Updates

I’m typing this up on Friday because I anticipate tomorrow being busy but I imagine the highlight of my week will be having my besties over tomorrow for our monthly game night. Plus we’ll be doing our first Mother-Daughter book club. Other than that it’s been a typical week around here.

What I Watched

  • First couple episodes of The Last of Us
  • A couple more episodes of 13 Reasons Why
  • A couple more episodes of The Legend of Korra

What I Read Last Week

  • The Introvert’s Guide to Blind Dating ~ This was a fun read between a baker and a romance author. Maverick has a classic case of writer’s block, and coincidentally his MC is a baker, so he needs Piper’s help. Yes, they’re set up on a blind date, but it isn’t their first time meeting. Aside from the cute romance, I also enjoyed Piper’s relationship with her brother, and the small town vibes where everyone was connected. 4 Stars
  • Whiteout was action packed, high stakes, thriller levels intense mixed with steaminess between a grumpy ex-military scientist, Ford Cooper, and sunshiny chef, Angel Smith. Ford unearthed a virus in the ice and there are some high profile people with lots of resources that will do anything to get their hands on it. This book was full of tension from start to finish, and I was gripped! 5 Stars
  • The Love of My Life ~ After reading the blurb and Sam’s review @ We Live and Breathe Books, I was super curious about this one. I wanted to know what Emma was hiding from Leo. Well, it was a little slow to start for me, but I was soon sucked in. I thought I had the whole thing figured out only to learn in the end that something I dismissed as a possibility had taken place. While some parts seemed a little too predictable, it still surprised me in other places. And in the end Leo’s forgiveness and love just totally warmed my heart. 4.5 Stars
  • Conquered is a reverse harem alien romance. There is way more sex than plot with this one, and while there are a couple things I wasn’t into, I still had a good time with it overall. 4 Stars
  • Running Wild ~ While Marie was not my favorite person in the previous books (no surprise there), I had no doubt after reading other reviews that I’d change my mind after reading her story. And y’all know I’m a total sucker for love after loss stories, so Tyler losing his wife (and son) while in labor just totally grabbed my heartstrings. Marie was having to deal with so many punches thrown her way, too, so I was so happy for her to get an HEA. 4.5 Stars
  • When in Rome ~ Sarah Adams did it again! She just continues to put out great, entertaining stories that grip me from start to finish. I love the lighthearted feel to this story without coming off as Hallmarky. It was a total feel good story that just made my heart so completely happy. This story was wholesome goodness. There aren’t any steamy scenes, and for some of you that will add to the charm of this. And for those of you that like some steam, just note that I’ve seen several reviews from people that generally prefer steam still say how much they enjoyed this anyways. I zipped through the whole book in half a day because I just couldn’t put it down. 5 Stars

    • Game night and book club were all rolled into one, so it wasn’t too busy. Just right. Whiteout is good when you’re looking for suspense with some romance thrown in! And yes, Running Wild and When in Rome were both so good!

  2. You had a rather amazing reading weeks. So many stars! I can let out a sigh of relief that you enjoyed The Love of My Life. I am not a mystery reader, so I was more invested in the other stuff more, but it’s was a great journey.
