Happy Monday! I hope you all had a good weekend! We had a great time Saturday with friends and our first book club of the year. Other noteworthy things happening around here – flooding. There’s lots of flooding around us right now. We have some neighbors (we use that term loosely out here in the country) that are completely flooded out. We’re not in any danger with that at the moment, but there are a few places that the flood waters are almost over the road that we have to travel to be able to leave our house, and it’s not supposed to stop raining until Friday. Today’s the lowest percentage of rain at 72%.
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date. Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

As usual, these are just options.
What books have you been reading??

I hope the flooding stays away from you all! We have very cold weather for KY at the moment and I have been in and out making sure the chickens have water since it keeps freezing.

We had trouble with our chickens’ water freezing last month, so I understand that. They ended up redirecting some of the flood waters with some heavy machinery, so thankfully we’re in the clear I think. It’s still raining today. It’s crazy how we can go months without a drop, and then it seems to come nonstop for weeks.

That’s how it is here haha. Once this cold streak ends we will have a few nice days and then we will get rain for a few days straight. Least it won’t freeze this time!

Sounds like some dismal weather. I hope you stay flood free.

Thanks! I think we’re in the clear now. It’s still raining, but they did some work to redirect a lot of the flood waters, and it seems to be helping.

I hope the flood waters stay away from you. Holes is such a work of genius. I loved the way all those lives were intertwined.

Thanks! I’m looking forward to picking up Holes. My mom just finished it and said it’ll make for a great discussion.

We are going to be reading a Mhairi McFarlane book in February for the Lost in Romance Book Club.

I haven’t, and it’s not one that I even remember hearing about. I’ll add it to my list.

The flooding sounds terrible! I hope you are still able to get to and from home without the roads completely flooding over this week.

They ended up using some big machinery to channel some of the water in a different direction, and it has helped a lot. There’s still a lot of flooding in the area right now, but fortunately we can still get out at the moment.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with so much flooding. That does not sound fun.

Thanks! Fortunately it hasn’t hit out home directly, but so many around us are suffering right now.

I’m glad you have avoided it so far. Hope that continues to happen.
