Stacking the Shelves #34

It was a light week for me. I only picked up 3 new books. At least I’m being efficient. I’ve already read both books that I spent money on. 🙂

Oh my gosh, y’all! I received an amazing and unexpected gift this week! SD Hendrickson mailed me a copy of another author’s book – just because she’s so sweet. The unexpected was getting a signed and personalized copy of The Mason List with it. WHAT?!? Yes! I LOVE this book! You can check out my review HERE, to see that I’m not making this up!!

I only picked up a couple books this week. We have family in town from the Sunshine State right now, so it’s been light reading. 🙂

It’s been a busy day with ball games and a crawfish boil, so this is getting out a little late today. I try to get my posts scheduled ahead of time, but here lately I’ve just had too much on my plate. That’s life, though.

My Really Late ~ STS #30

Happy Belated Mother’s Day!!!!

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

Saturday was a super busy day, but I did get to relax during the evening with some good food and great friends. However, that did put off my posting until yesterday, but then I got sick. Yuck! I spent most of my Mother’s Day in bed. Unfortunately I’m still not feeling better – probably worse even as I have drainage that is just making me nauseous. I hope all of you moms enjoyed a peaceful and happy Mother’s Day!

I’m pleased to report that I have nothing negative to report! It was starting to appear as if Fridays were jinxed for us, but this Friday all was well! My youngest child was injured last Friday, and my middle child was injured the previous Friday. That just left my oldest. But not only did he escape injury Friday, it was a great day for him. He participated in a mock trial as the lead defense attorney, and it was just a great experience for him. So, things have been good but busy on the homefront. I’m hoping to have a day of rest and reading tomorrow to unwind from all of ball games I’ve been running back and forth to and from! My kids keep me busy, but I thank God daily for the blessing they are!

Thanks for taking the time to drop by today! If you’re curious how middle child is doing, his lip and cheek have healed quickly and nicely. He’ll have a little scar, but nothing too crazy. This week was calm – nothing overly exciting happening, until last night. I don’t know what it is about Friday evenings for us….So, we go to a bday party last night. My daughter is outside riding a bike and heads towards the house to put the bike up. Bike doesn’t stop. She nails the bricks on their house with her face. She busted both lips and has scratches all over her face. She had the slightest headache, but it was gone quickly. We kept an eye on her to make sure there were no signs of concussion, but she’s okay. Then we’re heading home and we hit a massive storm. One I surely didn’t feel comfortable driving in, but we were close to home when it hit. I’m driving very slowly watching for major branches or trees. We live in a heavily forested area. Another driver passes me and flashes his lights. I immediately tell my oldest that there’s probably a downed tree. So, I slow down even further. The guy behind me wasn’t getting the memo, though. So, I kept slowing down more and more. I didn’t want to get smashed between a tree and a truck. Of course the downed tree pops into view just over a hill in a bad blind spot – no warning. The truck has slacked off my tail a little at this point, so I know he has time to see me stop. But, he doesn’t. So I start laying on my horn. This guy stops with a few inches to spare between our vehicles. My poor kids were freaked. However, God decided to keep us safe and I’m thankful! I’m hoping I can greet you next Saturday without all the dramatic sidenotes!!

Okay. Another panic attack averted. I tried to get onto my blog earlier and it wasn’t pulling up. I kept getting the connection problem, but it was just for my blog. UGH!!!! But, then viola! It’s there. Crisis over. But let me tell you about my morning and last night. I wake at 7:30. As I’m climbing off my bed, the phone rings. It’s someone calling to verify that they’ll be dropping my new washing machine off in 30 minutes. Great! So, my hubs goes to pull out the old one. NOT GREAT! The spigot falls off – water EVERYWHERE!!!! He’s in town grabbing parts now. Oh, but the fun didn’t start there. I didn’t even get home last night till 2:30am. Where was I??? The ER. Middle child was running at the ballpark, slipped, and slammed face first into the bleachers. I don’t know why it took 6 hrs for them to stitch his mouth up, but it did. He was super brave, though. Braver than mom apparently. I passed out right there in the room during the fourth stitch. GO MOM!!! Yeah. Super mom, I am not. Fortunately it was the last stitch and he did great. He even gets to tell everyone he was braver than me! Well, things could always be worse, so I’m still counting my blessings! I have a new washing machine and middle child is well – nothing was fractured and he still has all his teeth. Still, I hope your weekend has started out better than mine!!
