#IMWAYR ~ 7/6/20

Alison here ~

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date. Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

Blood Kiss ~ Review

Title: Blood Kiss
Series: Black Dagger Legacy #1
Author: J.R. Ward
Release Date: Dec 1, 2015
Genres: Fantasy/Paranormal Romance
Blurb: The legacy of the Black Dagger Brotherhood continues in a spin-off series from the #1 New York Times bestselling author…

Paradise, blooded daughter of the king’s First Advisor, is ready to break free from the restrictive life of an aristocratic female. Her strategy? Join the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training center program and learn to fight for herself, think for herself…be herself. It’s a good plan, until everything goes wrong. The schooling is unfathomably difficult, the other recruits feel more like enemies than allies, and it’s very clear that the Brother in charge, Butch O’Neal, a.k.a. the Dhestroyer, is having serious problems in his own life.

And that’s before she falls in love with a fellow classmate. Craeg, a common civilian, is nothing her father would ever want for her, but everything she could ask for in a male. As an act of violence threatens to tear apart the entire program, and the erotic pull between them grows irresistible, Paradise is tested in ways she never anticipated—and left wondering whether she’s strong enough to claim her own power…on the field, and off.

June 2020 TBR

I don’t know why it’s always such fun for me to put together a TBR each month because I have yet to read everything on my TBR for a month. But, I think I just love lists and I love looking at books, so TBR it is! Mostly I look and see what’s currently available on my wishlist through Overdrive and/or Hoopla. This always changes of course, and I’m never sure about when holds will come through for the books that I had to put on hold to actually be able to get my hands on them. But, here’s a list of some potential reads for me coming in June. Oh, and I’ll be taking a little vacation this month, and I never get as much reading done as I hope to get done while on vacation. However, it’ll just be me and my family in a secluded cabin on a lake. So, I’m envisioning some sun soaking with a book in my hand!

Top 5 Tuesday ~ Top 5 Series I Want to Start

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme started by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm.

How are y’all doing this fine Tuesday? It seems like all my local friends are bummed right now. We had hoped here in Louisiana that we’d be freed from quarantine on the 30th, but yesterday our governor extended this another half a month. Personally I’ve been doing okay with all of this, but even those of us that are dealing well can’t help but feel the stress of it all. Hence all my moody reading lately! How are things around you?

Today’s Top 5 Tuesday topic is Top 5 Series I Want to Start.

Genres: Paranormal Romance
Blurb: Trez “Latimer” doesn’t really exist. And not just because the identity was created so that a Shadow could function in the underbelly of the human world. Sold by his parents to the Queen of the S’Hsibe as a child, Trez escaped the Territory and has been a pimp and an enforcer in Caldwell, NY for years- all the while on the run from a destiny of sexual servitude. He’s never had anyone he could totally rely on… except for his brother, iAm.

iAm’s sole goal has always been to keep his brother from self-destructing- and he knows he’s failed. It’s not until the Chosen Serena enters Trez’s life that the male begins to turn things around… but by then it’s too late. The pledge to mate the Queen’s daughter comes due and there is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and no negotiating.

Trapped between his heart and a fate he never volunteered for, Trez must decide whether to endanger himself and others- or forever leave behind the female he’s in love with. But then an unimaginable tragedy strikes and changes everything. Staring out over an emotional abyss, Trez must find a reason to go on or risk losing himself and his soul forever.
