It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date. Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

Shadow of the Fox ~ Review

Title: Shadow of the Fox
Series: Shadow of the Fox #1
Author: Julie Kagawa
Release Date: Oct 2, 2018
Genres: YA Fantasy
Blurb: One thousand years ago, the great Kami Dragon was summoned to grant a single terrible wish—and the land of Iwagoto was plunged into an age of darkness and chaos.

Now, for whoever holds the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers, a new wish will be granted. A new age is about to dawn.

Raised by monks in the isolated Silent Winds temple, Yumeko has trained all her life to hide her yokai nature. Half kitsune, half human, her skill with illusion is matched only by her penchant for mischief. Until the day her home is burned to the ground, her adoptive family is brutally slain and she is forced to flee for her life with the temple’s greatest treasure—one part of the ancient scroll.

There are many who would claim the dragon’s wish for their own. Kage Tatsumi, a mysterious samurai of the Shadow Clan, is one such hunter, under orders to retrieve the scroll…at any cost. Fate brings Kage and Yumeko together. With a promise to lead him to the scroll, an uneasy alliance is formed, offering Yumeko her best hope for survival. But he seeks what she has hidden away, and her deception could ultimately tear them both apart.

With an army of demons at her heels and the unlikeliest of allies at her side, Yumeko’s secrets are more than a matter of life or death. They are the key to the fate of the world itself.

Happy Wednesday! How are y’all doing today? I have been tearing my house apart. I am full on spring cleaning and rearranging. We have a loft that had been more of storage room than anything, but my daughter wanted to turn it into a hang out room, and well things just bled out from there. My dining part of my kitchen is a disaster because that’s where everything goes that doesn’t yet have a place. We have hauled out old furniture and tons and tons of trash, though. Any hoarding tendencies I might have had 20 years ago are long gone. If I haven’t used it in years, out it goes!  Continue reading

So, I have finished 3 books since Monday, which is good. But, you can see from all the books I have going that I’m still struggling with finding the right books to suit my mood here lately. It’s really rather weird, too. I have been totally content staying at home and quarantining with my family. Actually, I’ve been feeling blessed to be getting all of this time with my oldest, who is hardly home between work and college. But, I suppose even with that my body is still feeling the stress of what’s going on in the world.

Happy Wednesday! How are y’all doing today? My family and I are all doing well. We’re doing our best to thrive in this mess, and honestly I’m just really feeling grateful for all the family time we’re getting! And it didn’t rain yesterday, nor has it rained today. Bonus!! I’ve been enjoying lots of board games with the kiddos, and other games that we made up ourselves. One we played last night revolved around music. We take turns playing 2 songs each. Points go to the first person that can name the title, artist, and album – one point each. We’ve played this a lot over the years on all our car rides. Living out in the country means even a trip to the closest Walmart is 20 minutes. But, I can say that my kids have a rather large music appreciation from it.

O.W.L.S Readathon TBR

Hello Everyone! First let me say that I’ve been slacking with getting to my comments and blog hopping the last couple days. I promise I’ll catch up soon! I’ve been busy speeding through a couple books for my group reads and in between, I’ve been working on a puzzle with my kids. I’m squeezing this in while they’re all taking a break. My oldest went fishing with dad this afternoon. My hubs has really enjoyed getting to fish more with all the reduced hours. Anywho….I love a good readathon, and I haven’t come across one as exciting as Book Roast’s Magical Readathon. If you haven’t already heard about it in the past few years, or if you just want more info, you can find that HERE. I am just so excited about this!!
