I’m determined to only add to it when I come across a book that I’m actually going to read. Now let’s see if I can stick to that. EEK! Definitely easier said than done! So here are the books I’m planning on reading this month ~

Review ~ Mismatch by Nana Malone

Publication Date: May 17, 2013

Synopsis

Spunky artist manager, Jessica Stanton, isn’t looking for love. She’s looking for a savior. When a business rival steals yet another of her rising stars, she’s in danger of losing everything she’s worked so hard for…and the only person who can save her fledgling business is the one man she shouldn’t want.

Art authenticator, Eli Marks, doesn’t have time for love. He’s too busy saving his brother from the demons of his drug addicted past. For the past ten years he’s cultivated a façade to keep his distance from everyone else. But when a string of high-profile art forgeries threatens the security of the only family he has left, he must turn for help to a woman who breaks through his carefully constructed façade every time she’s near.

Will Jessica and Eli save each other? Or will secrets and lies stop them from finding true love?

My Review

Jessica Stanton is trying to make it as an artists’ manager. Rival Destiny Shane has stolen another client. Jessica has to find another up-and-coming artist to fill the void. She goes to a show on a recommendation. While at the show, she gets more than she bargains for. She has an instant connection with a guy there, and they have the most incredible sex she’s ever had. The next day she schedules a meeting with the artist from the show. She’s very surprised to see that artist is the man she had the one-nighter with. What she doesn’t know is that he’s not really Samson Marks, the artist, but his identical twin Eli. Eli is an art authenticator, who is currently working on a FBI case. Things get really complicated as Eli is falling in love with someone who thinks he is his brother. Then, they become even more complicated when Eli starts to suspect his artist brother may be guilty of creating the forgeries in the case he’s working to solve.
I’m not the one-nighter kind of girl. I am happily married, but even if I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be that girl. I have read some stories where a one-nighter took place, and I could understand the motivation behind it, but this wasn’t one of those. So, I wasn’t feeling that. Then the whole relationship was built on lies. I did appreciate seeing their relationship become more than just sex, but it was still based on lies. This book is labeled as humorous, and while I can see how some people would find the plot funny, it wasn’t for me personally. You can expect both strong language and explicit scenes.
Now, you may be thinking why did I give this 4 stars? That’s easy. While I wasn’t crazy about the how the relationship started, I still felt the love growing. Plus, the plot, while it wasn’t funny to me, it was suspenseful and kept me wanting to know what was going to happen. I also must point out that it felt completely predictable, but then I was left totally shocked towards the end. I have to admit, too, that there were parts that left me feeling giddy. I liked the writing style and the flow of the story. It was really only personal preferences that left me not liking some of it, not the author’s lack of skills. That’s why I have to give it at least a low 4. Would I read more? I think it would depend on the synopsis. I really did like the style and flow, so it would depend on if I felt like I could relate to the plot.

About the Author

USA Today Best Seller and iTunes Breakout Books author,Nana Malone’s love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she borrowed from her cousin.

It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She’s been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, in the meantime Nana works out her drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is.

Nana also writes sizzling erotic novellas as Q. Malone: http://www.amazon.com/author/qmalone

Happy Reading,
