Finishing the Series Reading Challenge ~ February Update

Finishing

It’s been just over a month since I’ve started this challenge, so I thought it would be a good time to give an update. For covers, I decided to just share the cover of the first book in each series to make things simpler.

I’ll start with the series I’ve completed or have gotten up to date on:

Beautiful series by Jamie McGuire

beautiful

Unfinished Hero series by Kristen Ashley

raid

Death Collectors series by Jessica Sorensen

ember

Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Obsidian

The Maddox Brothers by Jamie McGuire

Beautiful Oblivion

Unraveling You series by Jessica Sorensen

Unraveling

The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines

So, that’s 7 series so far. My goal for the year is 4, so I’m good so far. Several of these series have more books to be released this year, so I will have to stay caught up to maintain these numbers! Oh, and I’m not counting series that only have one book released so far.

Now, here’s the series that I have read at least one book towards this year (I’m not counting series that I’ve only read one book in):

The Coincidence series by Jessica Sorensen

thecoincidence

I’d already started this series prior to 2015, but I’ve read two more books this year. I have just two more to be caught up.

The Keatyn Chronicles by Jillian Dodd

stalk

I read Adore Me this year, book # 4.5. I have just two more books to complete this series.

So that’s 7 series that I’m caught up on or finished, and a total of nine series that I’ve worked on this year. I might add another challenge in soon just for fun since I’m doing so well on these. Not biting off too much from the start has definitely helped me to stay on top of things this year.

I already have in my possession the last two books in The Keatyn Chronicles, so I expect to finish those soon. Plus, I plan on purchasing Happenstance 3 soon to finish that series. It’ll be towards the end of March before any more books in the series I’m caught up on will be released. March 24th Awakening You in Sorensen’s Unraveling You series will be released, and on the 31st she’s releasing Spark in her Death Collectors series. I swear she never sleeps!

So, how are you doing with the goals you’ve set for yourself? Feeling overwhelmed? If so, I definitely recommend just focusing on just one challenge at a time until you’ve reached your goal. It’s definitely helped me out this year!

Happy Reading,

Alison

Review ~ the coincidence of Callie & Kayden by Jessica Sorensen

The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden (The Coincidence, #1)The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

W.O.W.!!!! Okay, so i stayed up till 5am reading this book. I would have kept going if I didn’t think my husband would flip out on me when he woke up 30 minutes later. I slept a few hrs till my kids woke me up, and YES – continued reading.
This book touched me on so many levels. Callie & Kayden are two of the most broken individuals, and I literally teared up reading their story. That’s a big deal for me. I’m not a big crier. I felt like I had an instant emotional bond to them. I felt like I had to endure their every struggle.
Both Callie & Kayden have stopped living. That all changes when Callie saves Kayden one night from his father’s wrath. Kayden starts to feel, though, and he doesn’t know how to deal with feelings. He shut them off long ago. And, Callie doesn’t know how to shut out the past to open herself up to love.
There were a few editing issues with the ebook format I downloaded from Amazon, but they were easily overlooked. Other than that, there’s not a single thing I’d want to change in this book. Now I’m just concerned with how fast I can get my hands on the second book!!
Warning: This book contains a lot of references to some very emotional topics – rape, bulemia, severe physical abuse, and cutting. You’ll also find other sexual content and very strong language.
